Bart, a native of Oregon is a self-taught and naturally gifted artist who first discovered his talent while attempting to ammuse his son by drawing cartoon characters.  Bart looked to several talented people as his mentor  but one stands out, Wildlife Artist, Dave Bartholet.  “Dave has been my friend, coach and my inspiration.  If not for Dave insisting that I do more with my talent,  I would never have gone down this road."

Bart uses a wide variety of mediums when creating his paintings including watercolor, pen and Ink, pastels, colored pencil and graphite but he admits that he is drawn to graphite as his first preference. " I would not give up my pencil for anything. It  allows me to express shades, shadows and remarkable detail like none other ".

He photographs his own reference material and has a passion for wildlife, birds and nautical themes.  He looks for characteristics that he can express in his paintings and drawings that will allow his viewers to enter the story.  Several pieces of Bart's work is featured in a book titled "Artists Of The West" which was released in May of 2008 and on exhibit at the Smithsonian Institute.  A limited number of books are available and can be purchased by contacting  Bart or check with your local area gallery.  You can find Bart's collection on display at various galleries , malls and other retail establishments. Refer to his  website for a list of locations in your area.
